Anxiousness of assignment 01(Game show)
In this session we directly jumped on to the presentation of our first assignment, which is a game show on play theories. We organized the seating arrangement in a U-shape, with an open space in the middle for presentations. This setup made the classroom feel very interactive and exciting, almost like a game show where all of us could clearly see and participate in the activities. This arrangement greatly encouraged communication, confidence and active involvement because each group became the center of attention during their presentation. It also created a comfortable environment where all of us could learn from one another through discussion and observation.
My group presented on Tina Bruce and her 10 principles of play through a video presentation. In the video, we acted as if we were Tina Bruce ourselves and explained different principles of play. This approach made the presentation creative, engaging and enjoyable because it helped us better understand the theories while also making learning more fun for the class. By acting and explaining the principles in character, we were able to connect theory with practical understanding.
However, one major challenge we faced was the poor sound quality in our video. Although we worked hard on the content and presentation style, the audio problems made it difficult for the audience to clearly hear and understand our explanations. As a result, the overall presentation did not turn out as well as we had hoped. I felt disappointed and frustrated because our effort and creativity were not fully reflected in the final presentation. At the same time, this experience taught me the importance of preparation, testing equipment beforehand and ensuring that technical aspects are working properly before presenting.
Play theories are very important in children’s learning and development because they explain how children learn naturally through exploration, imagination and interaction. Tina Bruce’s theories highlight that play helps children develop creativity, confidence, communication, problem-solving skills and social understanding. Through play, children become active learners who can express themselves freely and learn from real experiences.
As future teachers, it is important for us to integrate play theories into our teaching practices. We can do this by creating child-centered activities, encouraging role play, storytelling, group games and hands-on learning experiences. Teachers should provide opportunities for children to explore, experiment, and interact with others in a safe and supportive environment. By integrating play into lessons, learning becomes more meaningful, enjoyable, and effective for children. Thus, as a teacher, we need to understand play is not only for entertainment but is also a powerful tool for teaching and learning.
